First Rhode Island Red Egg!

Today Kiry and I went out to the chicken house just after publishing the last article, and found FOUR eggs!  Three were from the Ameraucana Chickens, and one from one of the Rhode Island Reds!  This is an exciting day as the RIR is meant to lay daily.

Here is a photo of of the three Ameraucana eggs, green, and the Rhode Island Red, brown, and a standard (in America) store bought egg which is probably a Leghorn.

Of course, as exciting as it is to reach the point of lay with another breed of bird, I have got to say that watching my two year old try to catch chickens is pretty funny!

And watching the chicken ride a horse is pretty good too!

Then Missus cooked up the brown egg, which turned out to be a double yolk egg!

And so concludes an Egg-cellent morning!  Time for lunch now!

About The Prospering Peasant

After school and college and the University of Hard Knocks, I have decided to take what I don't know and expand on it by learning everything I need to build The Prospering Peasant's website. I hope you will come on that journey with me!
